European Courses in Advanced Statistics

The ECAS courses are intended to achieve postgraduate training in special areas of statistics for both researchers and teachers at universities. Also professionals working in industry and interested in the application of new statistical methods are invited to participate. The participants are expected to have a good background in statistics at the Ph.D. level although not necessarily oriented to the subject of the course. Young researchers especially from all European countries are encouraged to participate and to contribute to an international audience.

Here is a brief history of ECAS.

  • Between 1987 and 2013, ECAS was a programme supported by 7 Statistical societies of Europe: Belgium (SBS,BVS), France (SFdS), Germany (DStatG), Italy (SIS), Spain (SEIO), Sweden (SS), Switzerland (SSS)

  • Since 2014, the FENStatS members are invited to join ECAS, leading to 25 members
